Wine Words

Welcome to the first post of our wine discussion group! This is the place to discuss recent wine experiences, share wine knowledge, and also recommend great finds to fellow oeneophiles. To give you a background on myself, I am a Ohio resident who has traveled all over to find great wine. I love exploring new wines, but also don't mind going back to old favorites. It's difficult to list a favorite wine, but if I had to choose one special wine, it'd most likely be a Brunello di Montalcino. I plan on continuously posting my recent wine finds, bargains, and also taking part in debate. From here on out, visitors have as much say about content as I do, so go for it and share your wine knowledge......!

First Crazy Bargain Bin Post

So there are a lot of great bargains out there, but the important thing to note is that the newest bargains soon become over publicized and no longer are such bargains (Australian Sharaz has encountered this-although there are still great catches out there).
  • Chilen and Argentina have been bargains for awhile, and I still really encourage people to go and grab some. Veramonte and Montes are two very good cabernet producers from Chile, and both are around $10/bottle. I've had $40 bottles that don't taste half as good.
  • Spring is here (in most places), and it is always surprising how many people having tried a crips Savignon Blanc. I highly recommend that you go out and grab a New Zealand savignon blanc, which really can pair well with tons of spring dishes.
  • Try a California Syrah, it's not always that pricey, and it seems to be so overlooked. If you like great, juicy red wines that pair well with food, try a syrah!
